Hello and welcome to my web site.  I'm Captain Van Joffrion the owner and operator of SHAD RIG Charters L.L.C., the home of Louisiana's Best Light Tackle and Flyfishing for Speckled Trout and Redfish.  Whether your interest is Flyfishing and Sight Casting Redfish in Marsh Ponds, or Casting and Trolling the Bridge Structures of Lake Pontchartrain for Trophy  Speckled Trout you've come to the right place.

I was raised in the small community of Salt Bayou in South East Louisiana and here boating and fishing is much more than an entertaining pastime,  it's a way of life.  Even so, whenever "work" and school permitted I was off

I still enjoy the fabulous fishing of the Louisiana marshes and lakes and with SHAD RIG Charters L.L.C. you can too.  I would like to invite you to come with me and enjoy light tackle and fly fishing in the bayous marshes and lakes of South East Louisiana.  You may attempt to catch your quarry on artificial lures or if you like we can rig for live bait to fish for the Speckled Trout and Redfish for which this area is so well known.

Along with Speckled Trout and Redfish you can expect to catch Flounder, Sheepshead, and Black Drum along the bridges and shoreline of our beautiful lakes or in the marsh ponds and bayous of our estuaries.

For Trophy Speckled Trout Lake Pontchartrain is my most popular destination, due to the fact  it holds the structures that produced three of the top ten Specs in Louisiana history.

I also regularly fish Lake Borgne and the famous "Biloxi Marsh", areas such as Shell Beach and Hopedale.  The action on shallow water Specs and Reds in the bays, bayous and canals of this estuary is legendary.

In  addition to Light Tackle and Flyfishing, special trips such as Sight Casting, Wadefishing and Night Fishing are available and are super ways for the artificial purist to tangle with Louisiana's most popular gamefish.
